Next Generation Awareness Foundation, Inc. (NGAF) and its Urban Film Series Tour welcomes the Washington, DC area to its 4th Annual Film & Discussion Series which honors national Black History Month. The Series is one of the rare quality festivals that is socially programmed. It also serves as NGAF`s premiere fundraising program and helps NGAF produce programs for many underserved communities across the United States. For 2007, NGAF`s heralded Black History Month Film & Discussion Series, which normally tours in February, and premiered last year`s Oscar-winning film, Tsotsi, will be held exclusively in Washington, DC, from February 7th - 11th. Please review the information on the various pages of this site. See you at the Series!!!
The Theme: "We Remember"
The theme, "We Remember," speaks to how urban communities have been tremendously challenged. Our most critical need is to figure out how to grab hold of the direction of children and families. Perhaps a look back at the trials and tribulations of our time can help us re-focus. Perhaps you can find something in this program that can help you in your own efforts. The critical nature of these issues is so great that we have expanded our normal programming to 5 days, in hopes of bringing you memories that you can cherish. We hope that this production touches you and your family, and helps provide your community with greater vision.
2007 Hosts, Personalities and Sponsors
Many thanks to The Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority, who, together with Insider Entertainment, Regal Cinemas, Landmark Theatres, Arena Stage and Bohemian Caverns helped NGAF expand the program to include notable guests such as filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles, actress Yvette Freeman, jazz musician Roy Ayers, actor Joseph Marcel and Washington Wizards NBA player and poet, Etan Thomas.
Van Peebles, Freeman and Ayers will each receive NGAF`s Spiritual Legacy Award. |
