02.08.2007 - More than one hundred artistes from many African regions are participating in the show and many of them come from one of the two African circus schools that are involved as project partners.

After a dazzling, fiery entrée of dancing, all hell breaks loose and there is pandemonium; at the very latest, when the Egyptian sword jugglers seem to laughingly cast away all common sense, demonstrating for everybody to see that they are the masters of cut and thrust weapons. The excitement never stops and the audience run the whole gamut of feelings and emotions on an open scale of joy and happiness. One minute, they open their mouths in sheer disbelief at the sight of the jaw-dropping, mind-boggling acts, while enjoying a feeling of perfect bliss only one minute later.

"This revue is a multi-faceted event embracing an acrobatics show, a fantastic spectacle, a play involving mythical creatures, a dance performance, extreme body theatre as well as a wonderfully odd and funny sports attraction."

Apart from its artistry, the event mainly captivates the audience with its world of masks and fancy dresses as well as its music and dance performances. In addition, the Moorish-style palace tents, their beautifully painted interior walls as well as the floors which are covered in Berber carpets form part and parcel of the overall work of art incorporating this travelling theatre. Visitors get the opportunity to immerse themselves in a different culture for a couple of hours. This different world may be experienced during the performance and during the breaks – in the Café Africain or while paying a visit to the African souk market. Some of the things we see may correspond to our imaginations and mythical visions, while other experiences come as a big surprise.

Moreover, there is a contemporary art gallery offering a perception of Africa that is new to the majority of visitors. Just like music and dance, fine art is one form of expression chosen by the Africans to emphasise their continental rather than national self-conception.

As this circus theatre is virtually developing out of Africa with the support of the circus schools, it wants to give Africa something in return in the form of a proportion of its proceeds.
